University Preparation events

This term our Sixth Form students and their parents have been able to discover more about university options around the world, thanks to a series of lectures from university representatives. For those who weren’t able to attend these events, we have included the video recordings below.

Study in the USA

Following on from our series of successful visits from global universities, RST hosted a workshop with Columbia University (US).

Columbia has been a global high education leader for more than 250 years. An Ivy League university, it is the oldest university in the state of New York, and the fifth oldest in the United States. At its core is “the commitment to attract and engage the best minds in pursuit of greater human understanding, pioneering new discoveries and service to society”.

Amanda B. Carlson and Zelon E. Crawford from Columbia’s School of Professional Studies talked to RST students and parents about the keys to making a successful US university application. In particular, the synergy between RST’s motto: “The Whole Person, The Whole Point” and the US holistic admission process was highlighted.

The audience was also introduced to Columbia’s pre-college programs, which offer students the opportunity to experience studying college-level courses led by World-Class experts and university life through residential and online programs.

We were delighted to welcome representatives from EducationUSA and the University of San Francisco for an informative workshop about applying to universities and colleges in the US.

Representatives highlighted the many benefits of the US higher education system, including the flexibility of liberal arts programmes, which enable students to study a variety of subjects before choosing their major (normally after two years of study). A case study was also provided to offer a valuable insight to the US universities holistic application process.

You can watch the informative presentation below.

Study in Canada

In our first global university visit since COVID, Scott Lee, Associate International Recruiter/Adviser spoke to RST parents and students about studying in Canada and student life at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, which is ranked within the top 50 of global universities.

Study in the UK

We were delighted to host four UK Universities in a panel discussion last week. We welcomed representatives from the University of Birmingham, Newcastle, Bristol and Durham University to talk to RST students and parents about applying to study in the UK. During the informative panel discussion, the audience discovered more about these Russell Group institutions and received advice and guidance on preparing successful applications.

It was excellent to host representatives from Imperial College London and the University of Plymouth, who each gave informative lectures on the opportunities available at their institutions, as well as some general information about studying in the UK.

Study in Australia

Watch our video to find out more about studying in Australia, thanks to visiting representatives from the University of Melbourne.

In addition to these lectures, our Senior School students have also enjoyed a brilliant talk from Bangkok law firm, Baker McKenzie, about how to carve a successful career in law; they’ve had a helpful admissions workshop with Jessica Lo, Senior Manager, Student Outreach & Recruitment from Hong Kong Polytechnic University; and our D Block, LXX and XX attended the OCSC Expo in Bangkok, the largest higher education exhibition in Thailand!

Study in Hong Kong

RST students recently had an opportunity to meet representatives from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Senior students learned about the many courses on offer, university life, and the application process and received fantastic advice on preparing successful applications.

Below are the slides shared from the admissions talk presentation.

We look forward to offering our IGCSE and A Level students many more of these university preparation experiences as the year continues.
