Will joins us from the prestigious Dulwich Prep School in London, where he taught English up to Year 8, was a Year 6 Form Tutor and Head of Boarding. He has taught drama and history, written and directed school plays and musicals, coached rugby, football and cricket, led a Debating Club and co-ordinated lower school literacy. He is described as ‘a great team player…who promotes joyful enterprise and makes learning both challenging and fun.’
Will has a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies from Trinity College, Dublin and was assessed as ‘outstanding’ during his teacher training. His approach towards the teaching of creative writing is particularly innovative and exciting, with sessions such as ‘freewriting to music’, ‘The Learning Pit’, ‘soundtrack stories’ and ‘slow writing’.
Will enjoys music, cycling, surfing, golf, drawing, acting, and is a qualified fitness instructor. He has joined Rugby School Thailand with his wife and young daughter.
After taking his degree at Lancaster University, and before starting his teaching career, Andrew worked in the IT industry, implementing and supporting computer network solutions. He worked in Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia, before coming to Thailand to teach in Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
His most recent teaching post was at the Vietnam Australia International School in Ho Chi Minh City. As a lover of the great outdoors, and a keen mountain biker and triathlete, he was excited by the opportunity to work here in the rolling Thai countryside.
Vanessa joins us from a role teaching EAL at Bloxham School in Oxfordshire. She took her degree at Huddersfield University, where she was awarded an Honours degree in Music. She took her TEFL qualifications at St Giles College, and as well as teaching EAL she remains a passionate musician, having played violin in the Banbury symphony orchestra and helping with the music programme at Bloxham.
Vanessa is a fluent Spanish speaker and has taught Spanish to Year 8, as well as teaching Spanish in Colorado, and teaching English in Spain and the Canary Islands for many years.
Vanessa lists keeping fit as one of her passions, and she enjoys swimming, hiking, cycle interval training, squash, and tennis. Vanessa has moved to Rugby School Thailand with her husband and two children.
Simon took his degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, and then completed his Masters degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Leicester.
Simon has taught English Language and English for Specific Purposes in the Royal Air Force of Oman, and spent three years teaching English for a private language school in Tokyo – so he was eager for this opportunity of another international posting, after spending a few years back in the UK as Head of EAL at Kingswood School in Bath. He has extensive experience teaching EAL examination classes, including IELTS, Cambridge FCE, and Cambridge IGCSE ESL.
As Assistant Boarding Housemaster at Kingswood, he has been heavily involved in the boarding programme and is enjoying playing an active role in the wider school life here.
Most recently Kieron was Head of the Enrichment Programme at The British School, New Delhi, and before that he was Director of Physical Education and Sport. He took his degree at Canterbury Christ Church University and taught in east London before moving out to India.
He has extensive experience running both sport and games at schools, and has a strong curriculum background in IGCSE, A Level and IB courses. He has also been a ‘Healthy Schools’ Coordinator, setting up a ‘Fit for Life’ programme for pupils.
Kieron is an avid sportsman, having played rugby at 1st team level. He enjoys time in the gym, and lists football, athletics and swimming as additional sporting interests.
He joins the school with his partner, Hannah, and their two daughters.
James has joined us from his role as Head of Science at Green Oasis School in Shenzhen, China. He took his degree at the University of Liverpool, majoring in genetics, and upon graduating taught in the UK for three years before moving to China. At Rugby School Thailand he teaches biology at IGCSE and A Level.
He lists his interests as hiking, camping, skiing, mountain biking and photography. He is a Level 2 Snowsport Instructor and a Duke of Edinburgh International Award Coordinator.
James has moved to Thailand with his wife, Nat, and their young baby.
Lee was the former Head of Business Studies and Economics at Hill House School in Doncaster. He took his degree at Leeds Metropolitan University and then started his teaching career – and while he took time out of teaching to work in the City of London for nine years, he then realized teaching was his true passion. He has held leadership positions in his two previous schools and is an A Level examination marker.
Lee is a rugby and cricket enthusiast, and has been a coach and referee/umpire for both sports. He has organised various young enterprise schemes with his pupils, including a stock market game and a Christmas fayre. He brings this enthusiasm to the co-curricular programme and enrichment clubs we offer here.
He is joined by his wife, Catherine, an their daughter who is in Pre-Prep.
Richard has joined Rugby School Thailand from a role as Head of Spanish and Housemaster of a Senior boarding house at Bloxham School in Oxfordshire. Before that, he has taught English in Spain and the Canary Islands, and Spanish in Colorado. He took his degree at Ruskin Anglia University, and is bilingual in Spanish and English, and fluent in French.
Richard’s sporting interests include basketball, rugby, and swimming. He also lists kayaking, hiking and cycling as his interests, as well as being a film enthusiast, with a personal collection of over a thousand films.
He has moved to Thailand with his wife, Vanessa, and their two children.
Andrew has moved to Rugby School Thailand after many years at Rugby UK, where he was a Spanish and French teacher, Contingent Commander of the CCF, and master in charge of squash.
He took his degree at the University of Coventry, where he received First Class Honours in Spanish and French. He also has an Masters in Applied Translation from the University of Luton. Before joining the teaching staff at Rugby UK in 2006, he was a freelance and technical translator.
Andrew’s interests include international film, literature and photography. He uses many resources from French and Spanish, Latin American film, and literature in his classes, clubs and societies.
Andrew played a significant part in the co-curricular life of Rugby School and continues to do so here. He joins the school with his wife, Carmen, and their daughter.
Josh took his degree at the University of Newcastle and was the lead teacher of Geography at Milltorpe School in York until he moved out to Thailand.
His previous roles have included being the Independent State School Coordinator, establishing links across independent and state schools in York, and providing extra-curricular opportunities for able and interested pupils.
Josh has been a surfing instructor, has his Advanced Open Water PADI diving certificate, is a keen swimmer, and enjoys basketball and football. He is also a black belt in taekwondo.
He has led numerous school trips, such as to Iceland and Sicily, and is helping to develop a dynamic geography department here at Rugby School Thailand.
