Baker McKenzie | Careers in Law
- Senior School
Established in 1977, Baker McKenzie has enjoyed 47 years of unparalleled success in Thailand, consistently supporting Rugby School Thailand (RST) with lectures and work experience opportunities.
During their visit to the Bangkok headquarters, our students engaged with senior and junior partners, along with associates, who shared their wealth of experiences in the legal profession and of studying for a law degree. This provided our students with invaluable insights into the process of practising law in Thailand, the journey of studying law both locally and in the UK, and the dynamic day-to-day life within a global corporate and commercial law firm.
Despite the challenges of working under pressure and the often demanding long hours, our students were inspired and excited by the diverse range of projects and professional development opportunities available at Baker McKenzie. The exposure to real-world legal practice not only broadened their horizons but also ignited their passion to pursue futures in law.
Building on the foundation laid by last week's 'Skills for 21st Century Careers' programme, the visit emphasised the importance of essential transferable skills in the legal profession. Our students learned about the critical roles of communication, teamwork, research proficiency, and the ability to produce concise written and verbal reports. Additionally, they understood the value of attention to detail and strong time management in a successful legal career.
At Rugby School Thailand, we are dedicated to providing our students with a range of opportunities to excel in their chosen pathways. Through bespoke after-school activities and internships, we encourage our students to explore their subjects and career interests beyond the standard curriculum. This approach ensures that they can make fully informed choices and distinguish themselves in their future university applications.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Baker McKenzie for their warm hospitality and for supporting the aspirations of our future legal professionals. Their commitment to nurturing the next generation of lawyers is greatly appreciated.
We are continually seeking to expand our network and identify new opportunities for our students to gain practical experience in their chosen fields. If you are able to host a visit, provide an internship, or are interested in contributing to future Careers events for RST students, please do not hesitate to contact Claire Cecil, Head of Higher Education and Careers, at ccecil@rugbyschool.ac.th.
Thank you for being an integral part of our students’ journeys towards their future careers.
