World Scholars' Cup Global Round 2024
- Prep School
Eight Prep students embarked on an academic and cultural adventure to the Global Round of the World Scholars' Cup earlier this month. They pitted their wits against students from Zambia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Cambodia, France, Dubai, India, Indonesia and many other countries.
The scavenger hunt on the first day showcased our students' assertive leadership skills, as they led their teams around a series of quirky, collaborative challenges at a theme park.
The second day showcased the students' debating skills, collaborative creativity, and knowledge of the bespoke World Scholars' curriculum that they had been poring over for a year. This intense day proved fruitful, with many medals won for each discipline. We performed particularly well in the fiendishly tricky multiple choice curriculum quiz!
The Scholars' Bowl on the third day saw teams being tested on their lateral thinking, memory and logic; all embedded in a pop-culture quiz that required teamwork. Once again, our students excelled in this event.
An escape room robbing banks and hacking codes followed by a pottery wheel workshop formed the basis of day four. This was followed by a cultural fair with around a hundred displays by different schools from around the globe.
The final day consisted of a showcase of singing and dancing talent, followed by a closing ceremony that involved many medals being received. The grand finale was the Scholars' Ball, where all scholars could celebrate together at a party with a DJ, light show and plenty of singalongs; a fantastic way to end the trip.
As a result of their hard work, dedication and success, all of our teams qualified for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University in the USA. They were incredible ambassadors for the school and should be very proud of their achievements.
