  • Boarding

Iona has been at RST since it first opened and began boarding for one night a week in Year 4 - and now, in Year 7, she is one of the longest-standing boarders in Marshall House!

Tell us a bit about boarding in Marshall House and why you enjoy it?

Marshall House has been a second home to me ever since I started. When I first came, I was nervous but once I had made some friends, boarding was an amazing experience. I enjoy boarding because not only are the activities extremely thrilling but there are a lot of nice people there that welcome you and make boarding feel like home.

What is the best thing about being a boarder?

Like I said before, the activities! I love how there are two choices so if one day your tired, you can go to the chill activity but if you feel like running around, you can choose the sporty option.

What do you do in the evenings and at weekends?

I don't usually board on weekends but when I do on some occasions, we go to the mall, do fun activities like wakeboarding and have chill days.

How does boarding have a positive impact on your life?

Boarding helps with my organisation skills and taking care of myself on my own, like packing my bags, making my bed, etc. I can be independent without my parents.

How do the Marshall House staff support you?

Marshall house staff are like parents so you can tell them anything.

What stands out as your proudest achievement at RST?

Getting an art scholarship!

How has boarding helped you to grow and develop?

Boarding has helped me grow as a person in so many different ways! Going back to what I said about organisation skills, I used to lose everything, but boarding has helped me become more organised.

Sum up boarding in 3 words…

My second home.
