Studying Veterinary Science in the UK

Artwork for alumni blog post about studying veterinary scienece

Our first student to pursue a career in Veterinary Science, Lulu (Class of 2023) recently shared an update on her course over in the UK at the Royal Veterinary College.

"I've loved my university experience so far, my favourite part being the people I've met. It's so refreshing to meet people who are interested in the same things as me and get excited about the same topics. I enjoy that everyone is working towards the same goal - it motivates me to do my best.

I also love being a part of my university sports scene, and I captain one of our netball teams. It's been a great way to get to know students from other years and even other universities, as we compete against them or go out on Wednesday sports nights with them.

I've had the opportunity to go on some amazing placements this past year, starting with lambing, calving, spending a few weeks at an aquarium and, most recently, the zoo. I've done so many things that I love and I think that's been the best part of my uni experience.

I am really grateful for all the help I received from RST to get here - especially Mr Rees' support and the help I was given in understanding which universities were accredited. The summer school that Mr Rees suggested I attend was definitely a good idea! A lot of vet interviews are the same in the way that they do their MMI and group task. However, from talking to fellow students, it's clear that universities take people based on their enthusiasm to learn and their potential, rather than their immediate knowledge."
