A warm welcome

Mr Bruce Grindlay, Principal Designate

Dear Education Partner

As I prepare to take on this exciting new role as Principal of Rugby School Thailand, I wanted to introduce myself to you personally. I understand from the admissions team that you have been a valuable education partner for some time now and I look forward to working closely with you when I am fully installed as Principal.

I see the beginning of my journey with Rugby School Thailand as an opportunity to ensure our partners are given everything you need to succeed in your recruitment. I want to include you in our community so you gain better insights into the heart and soul of the School; so you can see for yourself why we are one of Asia’s fastest-growing British day and boarding schools. By connecting you to School life, you will be able to connect us with the right families, which will benefit everyone involved.

When I officially start my role in August – and when international travel has some semblance of normality – I would very much like to meet you in person. Until then, please feel free to contact me by email or speak to the admissions team.

I will now leave you with some highlights from our flourishing and inspiring campus!

Boarding Life

We see great benefits to the pupils in our boarding community. Boarding reduces the commute, giving children more time to study, enjoy hobbies and play with friends. It increases independence, nurtures deep friendships, improves language skills and fosters community spirit. We offer day boarding (1-2 fixed nights per week), weekly boarding (4 nights during the school week) and full time boarding (7 nights per week during term time).

Reward Programme

We recognise that some education partners will work harder for us than others, which is why we've implemented a reward programme for those with consistent enrolment figures.

Robust Enrolment Trajectory

We are a young school with a strong growth trajectory. We are currently at 2/3 of our capacity, so there are plenty of enrolment opportunities.

A bit about me...

As an experienced UK Independent School Head, I take great pride in helping schools to reach their potential.

  • I have been working in the UK independent education sector for 30 years.
  • I have been in my current role for 12 years. In that time I have grown the School pupil roll by over 25%.
  • Just like Rugby School Thailand, my current School is a co-educational boarding and day School, with pupils from ages two to 18.
  • My wife and I are both Cambridge University graduates. I have high standards and I am very committed to ensuring world-class academic and co-curricular opportunities.
  • In 2017 I opened a Prep School in mainland China, so I have a strong understanding of the Asian and expat market.
  • In my current post I have overseen huge academic grade improvements at GCSE and A Level – with a 67% improvement in top grades at A Level.
  • I intend to bring all of my experience and energy to Rugby School Thailand in order to make it one of the best boarding schools in Asia.

Rugby School's UK Heritage

Rugby School Thailand proudly continues the legacy of academic ability, moral principle and courteous conduct that has earned our parent school, Rugby School UK, a place among the UK’s leading schools; an accolade they have held for over 450 years. We model ourselves closely on Rugby UK to offer a top British education for families based in Asia.

World-Class Facilities

The school's 80-acre plot means it has space for a plethora of incredible facilities that fellow international schools simply cannot offer. Basketball courts, football and rugby pitches, tennis courts, a 480 square metre fitness centre, four swimming pools, art studios, design and technology rooms, a black box theatre, music recording studios, the list goes on. We even have an Outdoor Education Centre with a zipline and an Eco Garden with chickens and a tortoise!

The world today takes everything you’ve got taking a break from
all your worries sure.
We always like to hear from new education partners! To apply get in touch with our admissions team: admissions@rugbyschool.ac.th
We offer very competitive commission for our partners. We work with each partner individually to find the best possible rate for you.
Boarding starts from Year 3 (where children are aged 7/8) and continues right through to Sixth Form. Our Prep boarders are all in one house together, however, from Year 9 (F Block) onwards we split boarders into boys (School House) and girls (Rupert Brooke House).
Our HR team can advise and assist with the visa application process.
All overseas boarders are required to have a guardian in Thailand; someone who can be on-hand quickly should the child need them. While we do not offer boarding in term breaks (including exeats, half terms or school holidays), guardians or the families of school friends tend to be willing hosts if a child cannot get home. In term breaks the school hosts 'RST Holiday Camps'* which students are invited to join as day or boarders (*these camps are at an additional cost to school fees).

I look forward to working closely with you.

A genuine partnership between us really does mean a lot to me. I’d be delighted to hear back from you with any thoughts on how best we can work together from here… or even just a ‘hello’!
Best wishes,

Bruce Grindlay
