Years 3 & 4 (Ages 7 to 9)
Years 3 and 4 are transition years from the Pre-Prep School into the Prep School.
In these year groups, students develop their English, maths and humanities with their class teachers, and have specialist teachers for all other subjects; such as science, computer studies, languages, sport, music, drama, art and design & technology.
What does this offer students?
- More knowledge and subject experience: Lessons are clearer, more accurate and better pitched.
- Greater engagement: Passionate teachers make learning more interesting and enjoyable.
- Right environment: Access to specialist spaces like labs, studios or music rooms improves learning.
- Appropriate challenge: Work is better matched to ability, supporting both stretch and support.
- Preparation for secondary school: Students build independence and adapt to having different teachers.
- Stronger progress and confidence: Students are more likely to succeed and feel positive about their learning.
It is worth noting that from Year 5, students have specialist teachers for all subjects, with 'setting' introduced in English and maths.
