Early Years (Ages 2 to 5)
Children aged 2 to 5 attending Rugby School Thailand's Early Years Programme follow the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
For children in these year groups, learning is designed to be play-based, exploratory and hands-on, encouraging every child to develop curiosity, confidence and independence. In Pre-Nursery, Nursery School and Reception classes (known here as 'Early Years' and by some as 'Kindergarten'), your child will focus on the following areas of learning defined in the EYFS curriculum, which includes three Prime Areas and four Specific Areas:

Communication and language
Developing listening, understanding and speaking skills through daily conversation.
personal, social and emotional development
Developing self-regulation, managing emotions, building relationships and developing a positive sense of self and others.

physical development
Developing gross motor skills (like running and jumping), fine motor skills (like using pencils) and understanding the importance of a healthy lifestyle with daily physical activity.

Literacy
Developing reading, writing and comprehension skills, including reading using phonics

Mathematics
Developing an understanding of numbers, shapes, patterns and numerical concepts.

Expressive arts
Expressing creativity through art, music, movement, small world adventures and role-play.

Understanding the World
Learning to explore the natural world, the past and present, and different people, cultures and communities
